The First 2015 Calf

Our first calf of 2015 arrived this week and it's a bull! He is also my very first embryo transfer calf out of a very exciting mating; Monopoly X Bree (Angus/Hereford donor). I am absolutely thrilled to be able to share with you the first glimpse of him, he is a real looker!

This calf's dam is a really special cow in our herd for a number of reasons. "Bree" was my very first cow that I started my herd with. She is now 11 years old, and we decided last year that it was high time to ensure we got as many calves out of her as possible in the next few years. Two successful flushes later we will have three of Bree's progeny on the ground this year and more saved in the tank for future years. Bree is a super deep bodied, long sided, broody mama cow that consistently raises great ones year after year. When we decided to flush Bree we knew we wanted to flush her to the best of the best so Monopoly was a logical choice. Monopoly has made more champions across Canada and the United States of America than any other club calf bull in recent years.

With these genetics behind him, I am very excited to see what the future has in store for this stout bull calf!
