Clipping & Picturing Sale Calves
The past few days we have spent a lot of time working with the sale calves to get them all clipped, pictured, videoed, vaccinated and ready to spend the summer on pasture at my parents' farm until we return from New Zealand and Australia at the end of August. Oh yeah, we're going to New Zealand and Australia this Sunday for two and a half months!!!
I am so excited and impressed by the line up of calves we have this year! They range in age from January to May birthdates which means there are a variety of calves that will fit all show and sale dates. The calves not only look fantastic but I am already very impressed with the quiet demeanor of the calves who just came straight in off the pasture to be clipped and pictured.
All of the club calf steers were clipped, pictured and videoed and I took my time to accurately and thoroughly describe each calf. We also vaccinated the calves with OneShot, Bovi-Shield Gold FP5, Vision 8 Somnus and they were given Dectomax pour on. I am looking forward to working with the calves more in the fall and getting them tie broke and quiet before they are sent to their new homes.
As I mentioned before we will be in New Zealand and Australia until August 31st and in the meantime the vet (my dad) and my mom will be keeping a watchful eye on these very special calves. I will be very much looking forward to seeing how the calves have grown, matured and changed when we return!
While we are away I certainly welcome all inquiries into the calves via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org and will do my very best to reply as promptly as possible while we are overseas. The calves will be available for viewing at the farm east of Sundre, Alberta beginning September 1st and will be sold by private treaty on a first come, first serve basis.
I will also be offering a free mini clinic to all members and their families who come to the farm to pick up their calf this fall! The clinic will cover all the basics of caring for, training, clipping, fitting and showing your calf for new members as well as more advanced information and techniques for seasoned members.
I look forward to helping each individual and family sort through the calves and find the best match to meet your goals. Thank you to all of the buyers who have supported me in the past and to all of those who will inquire about calves this year. My cattle are one of the biggest passions in my life and I count myself fortunate to be able to pursue many endeavours in my life including breeding and raising high quality show calves that will be successful prospects.
